Rust cleaning

The appearance of rust or oxidation on metal surfaces is a common phenomenon, particularly on structures exposed to the elements, mechanical parts, industrial equipment or construction elements.

Laser cleaning of rust on metal materials

If these deposits are not treated effectively, they can impair not only the appearance of the metal, but also its durability and mechanical performance.

Laser stripping represents a modern, precise, and environmentally friendly solution for removing rust and oxide layers without damaging the underlying metal. Thanks to the targeted action of the light beam, the process vaporizes surface oxide particles while preserving the chemical and physical integrity of the treated material. Laser stripping does not weaken the substrate and generates very little dust.

This technology is particularly useful in industrial contexts, but also in the fields of restoration, preventive maintenance or renovation of old metal structures. It is suitable for large structures (metal frames, railings, pylons) as well as for precision parts or sensitive components, with little risk of deformation or overheating.

The ultra-precise laser beam allows for selective work, even on complex, irregular, or hard-to-reach surfaces, such as curved areas, welds, or reliefs. The result is clean, controlled, and provides an excellent basis for new anti-corrosion protection (paint, varnish, surface treatment).

Although lasers are highly effective on most metals, they are less recommended for certain very thin or fragile materials, which may be sensitive to heat or the beam’s energy. A preliminary study is therefore essential to adjust the settings based on the specific characteristics of the substrate, its thickness, and the level of oxidation.
